Start Your Own Practice | Nurse Practitioner | Massachusetts | Fall 2026
About the role
You’ve spent years becoming the kind of nurse practitioner your patients trust. Kinstead helps experienced Nurse Practitioners across Massachusetts start their own independent practices, providing the support to make it actually doable. This isn’t a traditional NP job – you’ll own your practice, choose the patients you want to serve, and decide what your schedule looks like. Kinstead builds the infrastructure around it so you can create a practice that works for you, whether that means more time with each patient, a flexible schedule, taking home more of what you earn, or finally having something of your own. You don’t have to leave your current job to get started; many NPs begin with just a few hours a week while continuing elsewhere and grow at whatever pace makes sense. Your practice might stay part‑time or eventually replace your current job. The goal is to help you build something that fits the way you want to work and the community you want to serve.
Requirements
- Experienced FNP, PMHNP, or other Nurse Practitioner
- Active Massachusetts NP license meeting the state’s requirements for independent practice
- Several years of experience caring for patients
- Strong ties to the community you hope to serve
- Interest in starting your own practice (even if you haven’t been sure where to begin)
- Desire for more ownership over how you care for patients and how you structure your work
Benefits
Kinsted handles the business and operational work behind the scenes, including:
- Insurance credentialing and payer contracting
- Billing, coding, and revenue cycle management
- EHR and technology
- Scheduling and patient intake
- A virtual front desk with real humans answering patient calls
- Business setup, legal, and compliance support
- Website and marketing support
- Tools and support to help you grow your patient panel
Starting may be more achievable than you think: you don’t need a huge patient panel to get going. Most practices can cover their basic costs with fewer than 3 patient visits per month, and startup costs are typically less than $3,000. As your practice grows, NPs typically take home around $100–$200 per clinical hour, with the potential to earn around $300,000 annually in a full‑time practice. More than 45 Nurse Practitioners have already worked with Kinstead to start and grow practices of their own. You can choose the patients you serve, set your own schedule, begin part‑time while keeping your current job, and grow at whatever pace makes sense for you.
