Responsibilities
- Enhances training and improves skills of health care providers in communication, diagnosis, physical exam techniques, and other skills as outlined in trainings.
- Undergoes training to learn medical history presentation, symptom simulation, and portrayal of patient emotions.
- Provides immediate verbal feedback and evaluates learner performance using an evaluation checklist specific to the case.
- Portrays the roles of patients or family members to facilitate practice of communication skills involving dynamic scenarios and critical thinking.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
- At least 16 years old.
- High School graduate preferred.
- Some acting skills preferred or a strong desire to act.
- Completes application and orientation requirements for DH staff.
- Communicates verbally and in writing.
- Physical requirements include standing, sitting, writing, and speaking.
- Successfully completes training program for standardized patients by the patient safety training center before working in the role of a standardized patient.
