About the role
The Staffing Coordinator ensures proper staffing for Nursing Administration, supporting inpatient units and various departments to maintain suitable staffing levels and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Assess, evaluate, and calculate daily staffing needs to meet core staffing requirements of each inpatient unit.
- Receive and manage employee call-ins for patient care areas, adjusting schedules to maintain adequate staffing levels.
- Schedule and assign courier delivery and pick-up tasks.
- Staff and document charges for all inpatient 1:1 sitters.
- Receive transfer requests from outside facilities and coordinate with House Supervisor, Hospitalist, and Specialists to facilitate transfers.
- Coordinate and distribute pizza for Pizza Fridays.
- Handle filing and organizing of paperwork.
- Receive and fax work excuses to HR.
- Order office supplies and after-hours patient nutrition.
- Track durable medical equipment (e.g., SCD machines, wound vacs).
- Maintain proficiency in multiple programs, including Ansos, Paragon, Trauma Case Alert, ESF8 Portal, LERN, One Content, Excel, Word, Outlook, Resource Scheduling, and Bed Watch.
- Provide payroll support to the Nursing payroll department.
- Assist the House Supervisor with surgery, GI, and Cath lab call-outs.
- Support PICC/Midline gatekeeping.
- Occasionally provide staffing support to the ED, Rehab, Memorial Specialty, Same Day Surgery, and Archer Institute.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- 2 years of similar experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to read, write, and speak intelligible English; communicate effectively with patients, families, peers, and medical personnel.
- Willingness to train for more advanced duties or skills.
- Emotional stability and resilience; adaptability to change, decisiveness, and foresight.
- Organizational and leadership ability.
Physical Demands
- Work requires standing and walking for long periods, bending, stooping, and lifting.
- Work environment may be physically confining.
- Visual acuity required for various activities.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information with patients, families, peers, and medical personnel.
- Ability to work shifts as required.
- Alertness and attention to detail to avoid injury.
