Staffing Coordinator
Job Overview
The Staffing Coordinator directs and manages the activities of the Medical Center’s Staffing Office. They ensure staff is well-trained in securing replacement personnel on a timely, cost-effective basis, provide support and direction to staffers, monitor staffing effectiveness, and foster strong working relationships with all levels of Nursing Management.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- College Degree preferred
- Prior staffing / medical office experience and supervisory responsibility preferred
- Computer applications including Word and Excel preferred
- Strong communication / interpersonal skills preferred
- Ability to multi-task successfully preferred
Scheduling Requirements
- Flex shift, 7:00am-3:00pm or 3:00pm-11:00pm
- 1 weekend per month required
- Per Diem
Essential Functions
- Completes daily staffing report. Verifies accuracy against schedule and printouts.
- Completes weekly payroll.
- Covers staffing function including monitoring sick calls and personal days, notifying management of problem areas, dedicating coordinators to areas in greatest need, notifying the agency of any changes in required shifts/divisions, scheduling nurses / aides according to established guidelines, complying with bargaining unit contracts, documenting all pertinent information.
- Ensures staff compliance with all Medical Center / Human Resources policies and procedures and regulatory requirements. Addresses infractions in a timely manner and in accordance with the Medical Center’s disciplinary guidelines.
- Establishes and maintains successful working relationships with Nurse Managers, Nursing Supervisors and Directors. Works cooperatively with management to achieve proper nurse to patient ratio.
- Gathers / prepares weekly and monthly statistics / data for periodic and interim reports.
- Provides training and oversight to new staff members. Oversees the training provided by others.
- Responds to / resolves staffing complaints in a timely manner. Promptly reports unresolved or significant issues to Nursing Administration.
- Provides a compassionate and supportive environment with prompt and consistent service.
- Adheres to patient rights: provides for the confidential treatment of all communications and records.
- Demonstrates professionalism with families, visitors, physicians, co-workers and supervisors.
- Listens and communicates effectively.
- Supports teamwork by cooperative problem solving through participation in meetings, projects, etc.
- Utilizes principles of continuous quality improvement in all work situations to assess, measure and improve organizational and department functions.
- Organizes work sets priorities with a minimum of supervision and seeks guidance as appropriate.
- Makes decisions that are timely and consistent with department, objectives, policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates sound judgment; accepts and benefits from constructive criticism.
- Participates in ongoing education as required.
