Staff, Technical Program Manager
Walmart US Tech is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Technical Program Manager to join our team. In this role, you will coordinate and manage the development of large-scale, cross-functional projects in a multi-disciplinary environment. As our business expands into new opportunities and evolves with innovations in customer experience and retail services, you’ll build software that scales operations, leads the industry through innovation, and delights millions of customers worldwide. We leverage cutting-edge technologies such as big data, machine learning, AI, real-time analytics, and high-volume, low-latency, high-availability services.
About the Team
Our team works closely with US stores and eCommerce to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.

Responsibilities
- Define and manage large-scale technical programs with multiple dependencies, ensuring alignment of goals, timelines, and resources.
- Lead cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end technology solutions, resolving ambiguities and driving clarity in program execution.
- Oversee system design discussions, ensuring scalability, high availability, and performance across software and infrastructure components.
- Identify risks, develop mitigation plans, and manage issues to maintain program momentum and achieve objectives.
- Establish and improve scalable workflows, prioritization frameworks, and operational excellence practices.
- Communicate progress and risks effectively to stakeholders, fostering alignment and informed decision-making.
- Mentor team members on best practices in program and technical management.
- Leverage GenAI and advanced analytics to improve planning, automate workflows, accelerate decision-making, and enhance program visibility at scale.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in program and project management, including risk mitigation and stakeholder engagement across complex, cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong technical expertise in system architecture, software development, and infrastructure design, with the ability to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
- Proven ability to define and execute program plans, manage dependencies, and drive continuous improvement processes.
- Skilled in communication and alignment, capable of delivering clear, data-driven updates to stakeholders.
- Demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision making and impact analysis.
- Experience mentoring teams and fostering a high-performance environment to achieve strategic objectives.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.
- Option 2: 7 years’ experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Project Management.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, with specialization in strategy, supply chain, finance, information systems, or related area and 3 years’ experience in product design.
- Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

Pay
- Sunnyvale, California: $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 annual salary range.
- Bentonville, Arkansas: $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 annual salary range.
- Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses and stock for certain positions.
Schedule
Permanent transition to virtual work for most of the team, with in-person collaboration at a regular cadence and with purpose.
