Responsibilities

  • Act as a Systems Safety Engineer supporting development of a novel autonomous aircraft platform
  • Develop and manage the System Safety Plan in alignment with SAE/ARP4754A and SAE/ARP4761 guidelines
  • Support certification efforts by defining safety targets using regulations such as 14 CFR 23.1309
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and monitor design changes impacting system safety
  • Coordinate safety activities across engineering teams and monitor design changes impacting system safety
  • Collaborate with airworthiness authorities and Designated Engineering Representatives to validate safety approaches
  • Verify implementation of mitigation strategies and provide recommendations and limitations
  • Help flow down safety and reliability requirements to design, verification, and flight test teams

Requirements

  • B.S. in engineering with 8–10+ years of experience in systems safety engineering
  • Experience working in aerospace or safety-critical system development environments
  • Strong understanding of safety engineering principles for complex, safety-critical systems
  • Familiarity with certification frameworks including FAA regulations, TSOs, MOPS, RTCA, and SAE standards
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization

Pay

The company expects to pay a starting base salary within the range of $167,000 - $208,000 per year, which varies based on factors such as geographical location and relevant job-related experience consistent with a business necessity.

Schedule

This is a hybrid work opportunity. At Wisk, this means working onsite at our Mountain View office 3 days per week with flexibility for the remainder of the days.
