Examples of Duties

• Staff Services Analyst I
  • Assists in technical assistance work engaged in the review and analysis of departmental operations, policies, and procedures;
  • Provides project analysis and oversight for assigned area of responsibility such as fiscal, personnel, staff development, or administrative staff assistance;
  • Analyzes the impact of legislation, rules, and regulations on department functions and services;
  • Reviews and ensures implementation of specific plan of action;
  • Prepares and monitors contracts executed by the department;
  • Affords assistance in the preparation of major department reports such as the comprehensive annual plan;
  • Gathers and analyzes data regarding department services and operations;
  • Affords assistance in the development of recommendations on department policies, procedures, and operations;
  • Performs special studies and research projects;
  • Represents the department at meetings;
  • Confers with department management regarding policies, procedures, staffing, and equipment needs.

Qualifications

• Training and Experience: Any combination of training or experience that would provide the knowledge and skills to successfully perform the listed duties is qualifying. A typical way, but not required, to obtain the required knowledge and skills would be:
• One (1) year of experience in a position requiring analysis of programs or technical data such as Fiscal Assistant III, Eligibility Worker III, Family Support Officer I/II, or Social Worker III. Supervisory experience is desired.
• One (1) year of experience in a position requiring analysis of legislation and regulations and preparation of training and staff development plans equivalent to a county Staff Services Analyst I.

Benefits

• Holidays: 12 paid holidays (96 hours) per year, plus 3 floating holidays
• Vacation: Two (2) weeks per year during the first five (5) years of service; Three (3) weeks a year - five (5)- ten (10) years of service; Four (4) weeks a year - Ten (10) plus years of service;
• Sick Leave: Sick leave shall accrue from the date of initial employment at the rate of 3.7 hours per pay period (which is equivalent to 96 hours per years) for regular full-time employees with no maximum accrual. Unused sick leave may be converted to PERS service credit upon retirement.
• Health Plan: Siskiyou County contracts with CalPERS for medical insurance. Effective 1/01/2024, the County will contribute 90% of the Region 1 CalPERS Gold health plan. Effective 1/01/2025, the County will contribute 85% of the Region 1 CalPERS Gold health plan.
• Dental Plan: Effective 1/01/2024 the County contributes 90% of the dental plan.
