Overview
The Scheduler at NeuroPsychiatric Hospitals provides administrative support within the hospital, focusing on the nursing team, patients, medical staff, and executive staff. This role ensures that monthly nursing schedules are set up and completed to deliver the best possible care to patients. The Scheduler also assists with call-offs and finding suitable replacements and coverage for the floor.

Responsibilities
- Schedules aides and nurses using a monthly schedule, which is set at least 30 days in advance.
- Takes staff call-offs and maintains the call-off log.
- Works with the DON and CEO to ensure correct coverage is in place at all times.
- Acts as a liaison between clinical floor staff and administration regarding staffing, supplies, and education.
- Aids in orienting new nursing aide staff and completing competency packets during General Orientation.
- Contacts various hospital departments to change schedules, arrange for patient transportation, unit cleaning, or equipment repair, and order medications, physical therapy, supplies, etc.
- Performs related clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, running errands, completing patient census forms, ordering stationary and pens, fax machine, etc., if applicable.
- Observes and supports hospital policy, mission statement, and vision.
- Safeguards and respects the privacy of health information as per written, electronic, or oral disclosures.
- Maintains a professional approach and confidentiality.
- Contributes to the collection and evaluation of data for the nursing Quality Review Program.
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 1 year of scheduling experience required, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Experience in behavioral health or acute care setting preferred.
- Previous experience with a scheduling tool, such as Shift Hound or SmartForce, is a plus.
- Availability to respond to staffing emergencies, including after-hours, holidays, and weekends as needed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
