About the Role
This full-time position serves a dual role as a direct Physical Therapist caregiver and a clinical research Physical Therapist at the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana (RHI), a nationally ranked rehabilitation hospital specializing in brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, and complex medical conditions for patients ages 15 and older. RHI is the only Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Model System in Indiana and one of only 16 nationwide.
Responsibilities
- Administer Physical Therapy evaluations to inpatients and outpatients, determining appropriate treatment programs and equipment needs while integrating age-specific considerations for a physical medicine rehabilitation population.
- Develop and update treatment plans based on evaluations, patient goals, age-related needs, and referring practitioner goals to optimize recovery, ensuring medical necessity and evidence-based practices.
- Communicate treatment plans to the care team, including participation in team conferences.
- Provide direct patient care and family instruction using safe and appropriate techniques to minimize accidents or injuries.
- Participate in research activities (average of 20 hours per week) as directed by the Director of the Locomotor Recovery Laboratory, including extramurally funded research on interventions for human locomotion and functional recovery following neurological injury.
Requirements
- Physical Therapy degree from an accredited program.
- Active Indiana state license as a Physical Therapist.
- Active Indiana state license as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Current CPR certification (AHA standards) or ability to obtain within 4 weeks of start date.
- One year of experience with adult physical rehabilitation preferred.
