About the role
The Health Promotion Research Center (HPRC) at Stephenson Cancer Center is seeking a motivated Staff Research Assistant to join their growing team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about public health, behavioral science, and hands-on research that makes a real impact.
Responsibilities
- Support NIH-funded and pilot randomized controlled trials focusing on health behavior change, including smoking cessation, alcohol use reduction, and marijuana use reduction.
- Work directly with participants and research teams on multiple ongoing studies.
- Referrals, screening, data collection, record keeping, data analysis, and report preparation.
- Gain valuable experience across the full research lifecycle, contributing to scientific publications.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Biology, Psychology, Engineering, Computer Science, Sociology, or a related discipline aligned with the specific area of research or project focus).
- 1 year of experience supporting research or working in a laboratory setting.
Qualifications
- Detail-oriented and people-focused.
- Excited to grow research skills in a nationally recognized cancer center.
Skills
- Experience or a combination of education & related experience can be considered in lieu of degree.
- One-to-one ratio used to determine the number of years of experience required in place of a degree.

Pay
Targeted annual salary ranges from $33,600 to $43,700, based on experience.
Schedule
Monday – Friday Standard / Fixed Schedule.
Travel
Not required.
Department Preferences
- Unpaid or paid experience working in a behavioral research lab.
- Previous experience with psychophysiology helpful.
