About the role
We are seeking a Product Designer to lead the design of an AI-agent-powered onboarding experience. This role will transform a high-friction, multi-page credentialing flow into an intelligent, conversational experience that gets providers credentialed and seeing patients faster.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end provider onboarding experience from lead form submission through credentialing to first appointment.
- Design AI-agent-powered intake flows that replace manual, multi-page credentialing forms with intelligent interactions.
- Scale our self-serve onboarding vision beyond v2, enabling providers to go from interest to credentialed with minimal human intervention.
- Conduct research and talk directly to providers to validate solutions, understanding why providers get stuck, what builds their confidence, and where automation helps vs. hinders.
- Contribute to the design system and culture, sharing your AI practice, prompts, and patterns with the design team.
Requirements
- 8+ years of product design experience, with significant time spent on onboarding, activation, or conversion-focused product work.
- Experience designing agentic or AI-powered workflows, including conversational flows, intelligent automation, or replacing manual processes with AI-driven experiences.
- Strong visual and interaction design craft, producing polished, high-quality work at speed.
- Comfortable with AI prototyping tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and MagicPatterns, seeing them as a core part of your workflow.
- A desire to make a meaningful difference in people's lives, directly impacting how many providers join Headway and how many patients get access to affordable mental healthcare.
Qualifications
- Experience designing and implementing AI-powered solutions.
- Understanding of healthcare industry standards and regulations, particularly related to insurance and credentialing.
- Experience with user research methods and usability testing.
- Strong collaboration skills, able to work closely with product managers, engineers, and other designers.
Skills
- Expertise in user-centered design principles and methodologies.
- Ability to translate complex technical requirements into intuitive user interfaces.
- Experience with design systems and components.
- Knowledge of accessibility guidelines and best practices.
