Staff Nurse - Mental Health
About the role
NHS Ayrshire and Arran is recruiting for various nursing positions across different units within its mental health inpatient services. The positions include:
- Ward 6 Low Secure Mental Health: 2 x 36-hour permanent positions.
- Ward 7C Forensic Rehabilitation: 1 x 36-hour permanent position.
- Ward 8 Intensive Psychiatric Care Unit (IPCU): 2 x 36-hour permanent positions.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for delivering person-centred, evidence-based, and recovery-focused care. You will work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills. Your role involves providing support to patients through critical stages of their recovery journey, including crisis management, stabilization, rehabilitation, and community reintegration.
Requirements
The successful candidate must have:
- A valid nursing qualification.
- Experience in mental health nursing, forensic, or rehabilitation settings.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively.
- Positive attitude and commitment to high-quality care.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a valid nursing qualification and be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Pay
From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours without loss of earnings.
Schedule
Positions are 36-hour permanent roles.
