About the role

The staff nurse is a professional nurse who, with minimal supervision, is responsible for providing nursing care to patients. Patient care includes assessment, interventions, and reassessments of the patient. The nurse is also responsible for planning, implementing, educating, and evaluating care of patients/caregivers.

Responsibilities

• Assessment, interventions, and reassessments of patients
• Planning, implementing, educating, and evaluating care of patients/caregivers
• Providing nursing care to patients in a 24-bed medical-surgical unit focusing on Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, and Rehabilitation services
• Working in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU), which is designated Level 4 by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC)
• Collaborating with the Epileptologist, Nurse Practitioners, and Technicians for the evaluation and treatment of epilepsy through GRID and stereoelectroencephalographical placement and surgery

Requirements

• Current RN license in the State of Alabama
• Current BLS certification

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Knowledge of epilepsy care and treatment

Pay

• Salary commensurate with experience

Schedule

• (3) 12 hour shifts per week 6:45 pm -7:15 am with variable weekends
• Evening-Night Shift
• 12-Hour Shifts

• Education: Associate of Science Nursing in Nursing
• Experience: 10 Harbert is a 24 bed medical-surgical unit with a focus on Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, and Rehabilitation services. Eight beds are designated for the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit.
