About the role
The staff nurse is a professional nurse who, with minimal supervision, is responsible for providing nursing care to patients. Patient care includes assessment, interventions, and reassessments of the patient. The nurse is also responsible for planning, implementing, educating, and evaluating care of patients/caregivers.
Responsibilities
- Assessment, interventions, and reassessments of patients
- Planning, implementing, educating, and evaluating care of patients/caregivers
- Providing nursing care to patients in a 24-bed intermediate care unit specializing in the delivery of comprehensive pulmonary care
- Working with a multidisciplinary team including families, medical staff, nursing staff, respiratory staff, pastors, nurse practitioners, occupational/physical therapists, child life specialists, nutritionists, pharmacists, and social workers
- Caring for patients with a variety of conditions including tracheostomy and/or chronic technology-dependent patients (ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP), acute and chronic pulmonary diseases, infections, and viruses, neuromuscular disorders, neonates with congenital anomalies and cystic fibrosis
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries: Current RN license in the State of Alabama, current BLS certification
Qualifications
- Credentials with Equivalent Qualifications: Registered Nurse AL Single State or any of the following equivalent qualifications below: Registered Nurse AL NLC Multi State Registered Nurse Non-AL NLC Multi State

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills
- Knowledge of pulmonary care and related medical conditions
