We’re seeking an experienced, collaborative, and clinically knowledgeable leader to join our Emergency Management Team. In this role, you will provide leadership, guidance, and support to Emergency Department medical support staff while fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and professional growth. You will play a key role in optimizing workflow, developing team members, implementing operational initiatives, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care and client service. Working closely with fellow Emergency Medical Staff Managers, hospital leadership, and clinical teams, you will help drive departmental success and support the continued growth of our emergency services program. What You'll DoProvide leadership, oversight, and support to Emergency Department technicians, assistants, liaisons, and veterinary cleaning associatesPartner with Emergency Department leadership and fellow Medical Staff Managers to ensure consistency in workflow, communication, and departmental operationsFacilitate daily floor operations, staffing adjustments, and workflow management to support patient care needsCoach, mentor, and develop shift leads, key technicians, and medical support staff to promote professional growth and accountabilityEnsure compliance with hospital protocols, SOPs, medical record documentation standards, and quality assurance initiativesMonitor staffing levels and schedules to ensure appropriate coverage and efficient patient flowSupport implementation of new protocols, initiatives, and process improvements throughout the departmentCollaborate with veterinarians, technicians, client service teams, and hospital leadership to promote communication and teamworkAddress staff concerns, provide performance coaching, and document employee development conversations as appropriateParticipate in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training of medical support staffAssist in resolving client concerns and partner with hospital leaders to deliver exceptional client experiencesServe as a clinical resource and problem-solving partner for patient care challengesAnalyze team performance, patient care trends, and departmental needs to identify opportunities for improvementSupport ongoing staff education, competency development, and continuing education initiativesAttend leadership meetings and contribute to strategic planning, operational improvements, and departmental growth initiativesPromote a positive, collaborative, and professional culture aligned with UVS core values What We're Looking For2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience requiredVeterinary medicine experience requiredDemonstrated clinical knowledge and strong technical veterinary skillsBachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology Management, Management, or a related field preferredExperience leading teams in an emergency or specialty veterinary environment strongly preferredStrong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and WordExperience working with electronic medical record systems preferredExceptional communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skillsStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentDemonstrated ability to mentor, develop, and motivate team membersAbility to implement change while maintaining team engagement and operational efficiencyCommitment to professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvementAlignment with UVS core values of Dedication, Compassion, and KnowledgeDemonstrated commitment to Mutual Respect, Teamwork, Integrity, and Trust ScheduleFull-time, exempt positionWednesday–Saturday, 12:00 PM–10:00 PMSchedule may be adjusted based on departmental and hospital operational needsFlexibility to support business needs, staffing requirements, and departmental initiatives as necessaryAvailability to support staff and operational needs outside of regularly scheduled hours when needed Compensation$70,000–$90,000 annually, commensurate with experience Why Join Us?This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care, team development, and hospital operations within one of the region’s leading emergency and specialty veterinary hospitals.
