About the Role
We are looking for a Staff Engineer to provide senior-level technical engineering support across our Power, Utilities & Infrastructure teams, including Power Supply Agreements, AI Load Power Strategy, and Substation & Grid Engineering. This role provides technical and engineering analysis supporting the team's specific mission, whether that's commercial negotiations, load strategy, or substation and grid design.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical engineering analysis and design support aligned to the team's focus area (e.g., power supply agreements, AI/GPU load strategy, or substation and grid engineering).
- Support system studies (load flow, short-circuit, reliability) and related technical analysis as needed.
- Prepare technical documentation supporting negotiations, design decisions, or strategy recommendations.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (Legal, Finance, Development, Construction) on technical aspects of projects.
- Visit sites as needed to support commissioning, troubleshooting, and design clarifications.
- Support technical scope development for behind-the-meter, islanded, and grid-connected load strategies, including design oversight, constructability reviews, operability assessments, and commissioning readiness.
- As applicable to the team, support on-site power generation design (e.g., generator sets, electrical topology, protection and controls) and integration with UPS/BESS/microgrid controllers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 5-8+ years of experience in power systems engineering, utility engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience interpreting technical requirements, tariffs, or system studies as relevant to the team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to produce or review one-line diagrams and support system studies (load flow, short-circuit, reliability) as relevant to the team.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting data center or large industrial power infrastructure.
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Exposure to on-site power generation design and delivery (e.g., reciprocating engines, turbines) or experience with generator OEMs, EPCs, or commissioning providers.
Pay
Salary Range: $100,000 USD - $160,000 USD
