About the role

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, employing approximately 17,000 individuals. It ensures the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing services to special populations such as those with intellectual disabilities, mental illness, and blindness.

Responsibilities

  • Assess training needs and develop training programs
  • Plan, assist in developing, and implement training programs
  • Document and evaluate training programs
  • Adapt and communicate information to a wide range of audiences
  • Coordinate and administer training activities

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities or in a behavioral health setting
  • Experience with training theory, principles, and techniques, and the uses of audiovisual aids and other training tools and resources
  • Ability to assess training needs, develop objectives, recommend training goals, and evaluate student learning
  • Demonstrated skill in assessing, planning, executing, evaluating, and adapting training to meet organizational needs

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of a position as outlined in the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • Experience with training theory, principles, and techniques, and the uses of audiovisual aids and other training tools and resources
  • Ability to assess training needs, develop objectives, recommend training goals, and evaluate student learning
  • Demonstrated skill in assessing, planning, executing, evaluating, and adapting training to meet organizational needs

Skills

Physical requirements include good physical condition to perform medium work (on occasion) exerting up to 50 pounds of force. Ability to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear, & carry out repetitive motions.

Benefits

This position is designated as mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.

Pay

$47,703.00 – $83,479.00

Schedule

1st shift (8:00 am – 5:00 pm), Monday – Friday, with evening work as needed

The J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center in Morganton, North Carolina is an ICF certified facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities. We provide comprehensive residential care to citizens from 37 counties in the western portion of the state. JIRDC is a caring community where professionals work with people of various ages, cognitive, & functional abilities. The J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center is located just an hour from the Queen City of Charlotte, home of the Carolina Panthers and the City of Asheville, home to the world renowned Biltmore Estate and Grove Park Inn.
