Join the Office of the State Auditor located on the beautiful Utah State Capitol Campus in Salt Lake City. We seek motivated individuals who want to learn and grow. We will help you develop the skills necessary to become a successful auditor and leader, with office-provided skill development and strong compensation packages, while bringing meaningful contributions to serve the State’s taxpayers.

As a staff auditor, you will collaborate with our diverse and seasoned team of professionals. You will practice hands-on auditing techniques, including mass data analysis, and improve your communication skills as you develop your team-building, interpersonal, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform financial audits
  • Conduct federal funds compliance audits
  • Provide local government oversight
  • Conduct agency and program performance audits
  • Perform fraud and compliance audits
  • Review privacy practices of designated governmental entities to improve privacy protection for Utahns
  • Operate the State Auditor Hotline for citizens to report suspected financial issues or improprieties

Requirements

  • Eligible to sit for the CPA exams (150 credit hours) or be licensed in the State of Utah
  • Able to multitask in a team setting
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong academic performance (minimum 3.2 major GPA and 3.2 overall GPA)
  • US Citizen, Permanent Resident, or US National
  • Able to pass required background check

Pay

$74,880 ($36.00/hour)

Schedule

The Office of the State Auditor provides Utah taxpayers and government officials with an independent assessment of financial operation, statutory compliance, and performance management, including through interactive graphical tools, for state and local government. These capabilities strengthen Utah State Government and help taxpayers have confidence in the integrity of Utah’s government agencies.

The State Auditor is a Constitutional Officer of the State of Utah, elected directly by the state’s citizens every 4 years. The role of the State Auditor is authorized in Article VII, Section 15 of the Utah Constitution.
