Key Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant Prepare and record journal entries in accordance with the monthly closing scheduleCompile and analyze financial results for assigned areas during month-end closePrepare balance sheet reconciliations and supporting month-end schedulesResearch and resolve reconciling items and accounting discrepanciesAnalyze financial variances and provide supporting explanations to senior accounting leadershipMaintain accurate general ledger and subledger activityAssist with preparation of balance sheet and profit and loss reportingSupport annual external audit requests and preparation of supporting documentationAssist with budget-related reporting and accounting inquiriesProvide financial information and reporting support during system implementations, audits, budgeting cycles, and other accounting initiatives The underlying position specifically owns journal entries, close support, variance research, balance-sheet reconciliations, audit assistance, and budget support. Qualifications For The Staff Accountant Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required3–5 years of accounting experience within a general ledger and month-end close environment requiredStrong experience with journal entries and balance sheet reconciliationsWorking knowledge of GAAP and corporate accounting processesProficiency with Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create and interpret spreadsheetsExperience working with accounting or ERP systemsAbility to support accounting deadlines, including additional hours during peak financial reporting periodsMust be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements The bachelor's degree in Accounting and 3–5 years of relevant month-end close/general-ledger experience are explicit requirements in the client's JD.
