Staff Auditor
About the role
The Staff Auditor works closely with bank management and staff to optimize business processes, identify opportunities for profit improvement, review internal controls, and monitor regulatory compliance.
Using the audit program as a guide, the Staff Auditor will make inquiries and observations of department personnel regarding the department’s processes and compliance with key controls, perform analyses and other substantive procedures to corroborate their inquiry and observation work, and document the results in a clear and concise manner, concluding with their assessment of the area.
Each audit job serves as an opportunity to enhance knowledge of the area being examined, complemented by other reference material maintained in the Department.
Some travel is required.
Responsibilities
- Optimize business processes and identify opportunities for profit improvement.
- Review internal controls and monitor regulatory compliance.
- Conduct inquiries and observations of department personnel regarding processes and compliance with key controls.
- Perform analyses and substantive procedures to corroborate findings.
- Document results of inquiries, observations, and testing clearly and concisely, concluding with an assessment of the area.
- Enhance knowledge of audited areas through on-the-job training and reference materials.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of accounting theory.
- Understanding of internal controls and the bank’s systems.
- Familiarity with the organization’s operating policies and banking regulations to identify internal control weaknesses and other problems.
