Job Summary
The Staff Assistant will provide support to the University Police - Public Safety Division as well as the University Police - Administrative Division.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing and supervising daily operations to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures is maintained
- Preparation of complex activity reports and emergent notifications
- Reviewing and approving official departmental documentation
- Organizing and scheduling contract department personnel and post assignments based on departmental and campus needs
- Maintaining and updating files for contract security personnel (Training, Education, counseling, etc.)
- Processing all Public Safety Daily Activity reports
- Reviewing all entries in the Automated Report Management System (ARMS) and assisting in additional administrative operational tasks where applicable
Minimum Qualifications
- Aceessory's degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant administrative experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- A current NYS Security Guard license required.
- A valid NYS Driver's License is required.
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills and strong organizational & planning skills required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suites along with various other computer programs.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Security operations in the public or private sector is preferred.
- An attention to detail and problem-solving skills preferred.
- Adequate knowledge of the SUNY system, Upstate Medical University, and the University Police Department preferred.
- Leadership experience preferred.
