About the role
Cambridge International Systems, Inc. seeks a Staff Accountant to support operations in Vienna, VA. This is a full-time CONUS position reporting to the Accounting Director within the Billing Coordinator function.
Responsibilities
- Leverage Costpoint daily to drive end-to-end Accounts Receivable and revenue cycle management—overseeing accurate project-based billings, proactively managing invoice collections, tracking aging schedules, and resolving complex billing disputes.
- Own month-end close reconciliations, prepare journal entries, and perform variance and labor/indirect rate analyses within Costpoint to ensure compliance and financial visibility.
- Operate with an analytical eye for spotting cash‑flow bottlenecks.
- Utilize advanced Costpoint navigation skills alongside strong Excel modeling capabilities and professional client communication.
- Be familiar with multiple billing sites such as Wide Area Workflow and contract types including T&M, FFP, and Cost Plus.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- At least 5 years of progressive, full‑cycle accounting experience.
- Proficiency with computers and relevant tools/systems for the role.
- Ability to work periods of prolonged sitting and/or standing, including desk‑based computer work.
- Employment contingent upon successful background investigation; alcohol and drug screening may be required for federal contract compliance.
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of U.S. Government (USG) contract accounting principles, including FAR/CAS compliance.
- Familiarity with common contract types (CPFF, T&M, FFP) and indirect rate structures.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and understanding of FAR and defense contracting requirements.
- Deep, hands‑on expertise in Deltek Costpoint.

Pay
The base salary range for this role is $52,665.00 to $87,000.00 annually, depending on geographic location and experience. The final offer will be based on relevant experience, skills, internal equity, and market data.
Schedule
Full‑time position with occasional extended work hours, including evenings or weekends as needed.
