Staff Accountant - Tax

\#26-132 Job Description The #HamFam is seeking a Staff Accountant II with a specialized focus in all things sales and use tax within a multi-state organization. Our ideal candidate will have experience: preparing and reviewing sales tax filings in Vertex, researching state tax law, tracking nexus, reconciling the sales tax liability account, and leading audit support. You'll also handle registrations for new store openings and jurisdictions, manage exemption certificates, and work with a third-party vendor on property tax reporting. A successful candidate will be a self-starter that enjoys digging into research, improving processes, and collaborating with internal teams and various third party vendors. This position is on-site in Alpharetta, GA at our Customer Support Center, working 4 days in office and 1 day remote. Ideal Candidates For This Role Will Also Have an undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or on CPA-trackMaintains a professional relationship with internal and external customersHave excellent financial and analysis skills and a thorough background in accounting and finance principlesStrong business sense and communication skillsDetail understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and generally accepted auditing standardsDemonstrated ability to work as a team memberAbility to analyze and document financial resultsVertex or other comparable 3 rd party sales tax softwareMicrosoft Dynamics D365 accounting system and IBM Planning Analytic reporting software knowledge a plusAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including pivot tables and VLOOKUP formulas; some experience with Microsoft Access helpful.Retail and/or manufacturing experience preferredExperience with a company that is multi-location required The Honey Baked Ham Company LLC is an equal employment opportunity employer.
