Staff Accountant (Remote)

Description The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of a growing pharmaceutical company. This position ensures accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP while maintaining compliance with internal controls and company policies. The Staff Accountant will work closely with Finance, Procurement, Commercial, Clinical, Regulatory, and external service providers to support monthly close activities, financial reporting, audits, and operational accounting processes. The Staff Accountant will report directly to the Assistant Controller. This is a remote-based position located in the United States. Responsibilities: General Accounting: Prepare and record journal entries for month-end and year-end closeReconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepanciesPrepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliationsMaintain supporting schedules for prepaid expenses, accruals, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accountsAssist with monthly financial statement preparation and variance analysisEnsure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies Accounts Payable & Expenses: Review vendor invoices for accuracy and proper codingProcess employee expense reports in accordance with company travel and expense policiesMonitor vendor payments and resolve invoice discrepanciesAssist with purchase order matching and invoice approvals Cash & Treasury: Perform daily cash reconciliationsRecord banking transactions, wire transfers, and ACH paymentsAssist with cash forecasting and treasury reportingSupport banking administration and account maintenance Fixed Assets: Maintain the fixed asset registerRecord additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciationCoordinate periodic physical asset verification Financial Reporting & Compliance: Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reportingSupport external audits and tax compliance by preparing requested schedulesAssist with SOX or internal control documentation, if applicableMaintain accounting documentation and support records Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficienciesParticipate in ERP system enhancements (NetSuite preferred)Assist with implementation of new accounting standards and internal procedures Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance requiredCPA certification or CPA candidate preferredMinimum of 2-5 years of accounting-related experience Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or life sciences industry experience preferredPublic accounting experience is a plusExperience with NetSuite ERP is highly preferredExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to demonstrate Elevar’s core values by holding ourselves and each other accountable for the work we do, taking time to collaborate effectively while working remotely, making space for ingenuity in work and thought, and staying grounded in compassion The anticipated annual base salary range for this role is $115,000 to $140,000. Final compensation depends on multiple factors including but not limited to, relevant experience, skillset, depth and breadth of knowledge, internal equity, and external market factors.
