About the role
The Staff Accountant at JNR Advisory, now part of Archer Lewis, plays a crucial role in providing personalized tax, accounting, and advisory services. Reporting to senior leadership, this role involves preparing and reviewing financial statements, conducting tax research, and communicating directly with clients.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review journal entries and general ledger activity
- Own and manage portions of the month-end and year-end close process
- Analyze financial statements and identify discrepancies, trends, and areas requiring adjustment
- Recommend appropriate accounting treatment based on GAAP and firm standards
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records and support documentation
- Prepare and review individual, partnership, and business tax returns
- Conduct tax research and apply findings to client situations
- Communicate directly with clients regarding tax matters and information requests
- Serve as a point of contact for assigned client workstreams
- Communicate financial results and explain accounting or tax positions to clients
- Collaborate with senior team members on complex engagements while managing day-to-day execution
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment in applying accounting and tax principles
- Prioritize and manage multiple engagements and deadlines
- Identify process improvements and contribute to operational efficiencies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2-4 years of relevant accounting or tax experience (internships applicable)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity with accounting software (UltraTax) preferred
- CPA or actively pursuing CPA preferred
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to apply accounting principles and exercise professional judgment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including client interaction
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
Skills
- Microsoft Excel proficiency
- Familiarity with accounting software (UltraTax) preferred
- CPA or actively pursuing CPA

- Base salary of $70,000 - $80,000 plus discretionary bonus (exact base salary amount will be dependent on experience)
