Staff Accountant I
About the role
This role is based in Urbandale, IA and offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review and analyze various accounting reports including variances, billing, and other statements
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of accounting reports
- Assist with the development, implementation and documentation of internal and external accounting and operating policies, procedures and process improvements for general accounting functions
- Address inquiries from stakeholders across multiple lines of business
- Possibly partner with team members to develop process efficiencies
- Perform reconciliation reviews
- Interact with various internal stakeholders including Controllers & Financial Planning
- Review system enhancements and upgrades to understand their function
- Review documentation for proper revenue recognition criteria
- Complete quality assurance reviews on fee and commission revenue for proper accounting treatment
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in finance or accounting
- Proficient with MS Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications
- Prior experience working within the insurance industry
- High attention to detail
- Prior experience with internal controls or auditing
- Experience with Oracle

Pay
The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 annually.
