Position overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical “Staff Accountant” to support our finance department. The position is essential for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting financial operations of the College. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of accounting principles and computer applications. In addition, the candidate will also have strong communication skills and the ability to collect and analyze data.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field from an accredited college or university (OR)
- Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of data collection and analysis in a computerized environment.
- Higher education and Banner software experience preferred.
Nature and Scope of Duties
- Affords assistance in the preparation, review, and analysis of statistical and financial reports for internal (College) or external (Federal, State, etc.) distribution/submission.
- Responsible for preparing data for the Actuary.
- Coordinates the collection of data from other departments in preparation for the College’s independent audit.
- Affords assistance in the collection and processing of Certificate of Residency (COR) forms.
- Leads the annual Cost of Curriculum Study Report.
- Affords assistance in the collection and processing of non-tuition billing.
- Affords assistance in the processing of accounts receivables and follows up on outstanding balances; and turns-over delinquent accounts to collection agency.
- Responsible for collateral reconciliations.
- Affords assistance in the Cashier/Bursar’s Office with responding to student inquiries during peak times and as needed.
- Affords assistance in bank reconciliations, as needed.
- Affords assistance in annual calculations for auditors to include vacation accrual and termination benefits.
- Affords assistance in working with the College’s independent auditors to reconcile the annual financial statements to the College’s financial reports.
- Performs other duties assigned.
Pay and Benefits
This is a 12-month, Full-Time position with a salary range of $50,000-$55,000. Hudson Valley offers a full benefit package including Health Insurance, Dental and Eye Insurance, Retirement, employee and employee’s spouse and children free tuition waivers.
