Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional additional hours may be required during critical reporting periods, including month-end close, year-end activities, audits, and other key deadlines.
About the role
The Staff Accountant is responsible for recording financial activity and preparing financial statements for Saint Francis Health System entities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (preferred)
- 3–4 years of related experience (preferred)
Skills
- Ability to develop and utilize PC-based spreadsheets and financial software
- Strong communication skills with managers and directors
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations in a timely manner based on established deadlines
- Investigate and resolve all discrepancies with appropriate personnel
- Reconcile and report all unclaimed property for the Health System, including necessary research to file the report on time
- Maintain the capital budget database for Saint Francis Health System
- Establish and close projects in the project management system
- Work with health system managers regarding questions on projects and available dollars from the capital budget
- Prepare capital acquisition reports for the capital planning committee and other ad-hoc reports as required by financial services
- Record all activity on a monthly basis and prepare financial statements for one or more Health System entities, including reconciliations and analysis of general ledger accounts to budget
- Assist with special projects as needed, including budget preparation, working directly with auditors, records retention, cash and credit card reconciliation, intercompany payments, and equity entries
