Staff Accountant

Key Responsibilities
- Manage program-specific billing, including the preparation of monthly invoices and proactive follow-up on outstanding accounts receivable
- Accurately deposit and record all incoming cash receipts
- Record donations and generate monthly donation reports for review
- Reconcile credit card expenses and assist cardholders with inquiries
- Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts to ensure ledger accuracy
- Verify the accuracy of descriptions on Certificates of Insurance and distribute them to funders in a timely manner
- Provide cross-functional support and backup coverage for Accounts Payable operations as needed
- Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
- At least two (2) years of accounting experience, preferably working with non-profits or healthcare clinics
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or closely related field preferred
Competencies
- Strong understanding of the general ledger and accounts receivable
- Familiarity with GAAP and understanding of the accounting receivable cycle
- Demonstrates strong analytical skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience with computerized accounting systems, preferably Abila MIP
- Experience with G-Suite Applications
- Experience with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
- Ability to prioritize and work accurately with close attention to detail, strong time management skills and an ability to work within defined deadlines
- Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse multidisciplinary team
- Able to work in-person at our Oakland, CA office (relocation assistance not provided)
