Staff Accountant
Location: York, PA | Pay: $65,000 – $75,000 (based on experience)
About the role
We are seeking a Staff Accountant to support the Accounting, Tax, and Finance team through a variety of general accounting, financial reporting, tax compliance, and audit-related responsibilities. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and analytical accounting professional with strong technical accounting knowledge and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
This is a safety-sensitive position requiring occasional work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction. The position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.
Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day general accounting activities.
- Conduct financial analyses and account reconciliations.
- Maintain fixed asset records and ledgers, including setup, depreciation, and disposal.
- Record and post general ledger entries as necessary.
- Support the Controller and Assistant Controller with month-end and year-end closing processes, including accurate and timely production of monthly financial and management reporting.
- Assist with tax compliance related to federal, state, and local income, real and personal property, franchise, value-added, sales/use, and other taxes in all jurisdictions where the company operates.
- Support the Controller and Assistant Controller with external financial audits and tax return preparation, including timely preparation of workpapers, financial statements, and footnotes.
- Handle closing entries and financial statement preparation for the company’s partnerships.
- Support the Controller and Assistant Controller in establishing, monitoring, and enforcing company policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required).
- 1–5 years of experience in accounting/finance.
- Experience in the construction industry or with Viewpoint Vista construction software is a plus.
- CPA or MBA is a plus.
- Strong technical accounting background with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work with diverse personalities and adapt to a flexible personal style.
- Comfortable working within ERP and related business systems.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently, and possess sound critical thinking skills.
- Analytical curiosity and proactive approach to understanding company processes.
