Responsibilities
- Prepare and post monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries
- Perform reconciliations for bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and general ledger accounts
- Prepare and record accounts payable transactions in compliance with accounting policies
- Prepare and analyze balance sheet account reconciliations
- Aid in fixed asset maintenance and depreciation schedules
- Support the preparation for internal and external audits
- Manage the processing, reporting, and maintenance of Unclaimed Property in accordance with state regulations
- Maintain and update vendor files to ensure current and accurate records
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and internal control enhancement efforts
- Identify discrepancies, process gaps, or operational inefficiencies and escalate issues appropriately
- Communicate effectively across departments to resolve accounting-related issues and improve workflow
- Perform additional accounting duties, projects, and special assignments as directed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or a related field required
- 2-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or insurance industry setting
- Working knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles
- Proficient in Microsoft excel and other Microsoft applications
- Experience with reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting processes
- Property/Casualty insurance industry experience is a plus
