Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily accounting functions including accurate recording of cash receipts, invoice entry, and other financial transactions.
- Process weekly vendor payments through ACH and checks.
- Oversee monthly student billing and statement generation and follow-up on past due account balances.
- Respond to student billing and vendor inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Monitor and track restricted gifts, endowment funds, and grant expenditures in accordance with non-profit accounting standards and collaborate with the Advancement Office to perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations.
- Avoid all financial transactions comply with established internal controls and GAAP.
- Aid in the month-end and year-end closing processes, including the preparation of journal entries and account analyses.
- Collaborate with the Business Office team to improve financial workflows and maintain organized, accurate filing systems.
- Prepare documentation and schedules to support annual financial audits and regulatory filings.
- Vendor management including W-9 collection and annual 1099 processing.
- Serve as a primary resource for faculty regarding school financial policies, including expense reimbursements and procurement procedures.
- Engage with the Meadowbrook faculty as an active, collaborative member of our community.
- All other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Finance and Operations or the DFO.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
- 2-5 years of similar professional accounting experience, preferably in an independent school or non-profit setting.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Exceptionally organized with ability to proactively manage and prioritize tasks and projects.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage technology and create efficiencies and process improvements.
- Proficiency in advanced Excel functions, the Microsoft Office suite, familiarity with Google, Zoom, Teams etc. and experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Senior Systems, Veracross, Ramp or similar systems.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize extreme discretion around any sensitive information as it pertains to students, parents, and employees (e.g. handling confidential financial information, tuition records, or donor data with complete discretion and professional integrity).
- Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with families, vendors and faculty by providing timely, professional and courteous service.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $80,000 per year. Meadowbrook also offers a generous benefits package, including medical, dental and vision insurance plans, a school-matched retirement plan and paid time off.
