Staff Accountant

Job Overview

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the monthly close process, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reconciliations, and assisting with financial reporting and compliance activities. This position reports directly to the Accounting Manager and works closely with other members of the finance team to ensure timely and accurate accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and reclassifications.
• Perform monthly account reconciliations and investigate reconciling items.
• Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
• Prepare balance sheet schedules and supporting documentation.
• Analyze account fluctuations and provide explanations for variances.
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of financial records.
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
• Track prepaid expenses and prepare amortization entries.
• Auxiliary with asset additions, disposals, and impairment analyses.
• Prepare schedules and documentation for external auditors.
• Auxiliary with annual financial statement audits and tax filings.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies.
• Support SOX and process improvement initiatives, where applicable.
• Auxiliary with variance analysis and ad hoc reporting requests.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls.
• Participate in system implementations and continuous improvement projects.
