Purpose

The primary purpose of this position is to assist Silver State Schools Credit Union in living out its mission—“Excellent Member Service and Financial Solutions – For Life”—by providing outstanding service to both members and internal members. Demonstrate enthusiastic support of corporate mission, core values, and long-term objectives. Perform job duties within bylaws, regulations, Board of Directors policies, established service standards, and work procedures. Complete tasks accurately and in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Review, maintain, and develop a fixed asset tracking system, including corresponding monthly depreciation entries.
  • Prepare the annual personal property tax return.
  • Review and maintain prepaid expense sub-ledgers, including corresponding monthly amortization entries.
  • Assist with the daily reconciliation of all the Credit Union’s bank accounts.
  • Prepare and enter all end-of-month journal entries (income/expense accruals, GL reclassifications, etc.) with a goal of a five-business-day monthly close.
  • Review and prepare annual IRS 945 payments.
  • Review and clear outstanding checks (Cashier’s Checks, Money Orders, and Expense Checks).
  • Reconcile all balance sheet general ledger accounts at least monthly and archive formal reconciliations.
  • Assist the Accounting Services Manager and Controller with financial reporting, including statistical reports and management reports.
  • Assist the Accounting Services Manager and Controller with other miscellaneous duties as needed.
  • Assist branches and other departments with GL-related inquiries, including cash balancing and Member fee GLs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Three to five years of experience as a staff accountant.
  • Financial institution experience preferred.
