Staff Accountant

Accountant (Contract) | Cedar Rapids, IA A growing Cedar Rapids organization is seeking a Contract Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations and special projects. This role offers an opportunity to contribute across multiple areas of accounting while working alongside a collaborative finance team. Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & AnalysisPrepare and maintain financial reportsAssist with month-end and year-end close activitiesAnalyze account activity and investigate variancesSupport budgeting and forecasting effortsGeneral AccountingPrepare journal entries and account reconciliationsMaintain general ledger accuracyReconcile bank and balance sheet accountsEnsure compliance with accounting policies and proceduresTransaction ProcessingSupport accounts payable and accounts receivable functionsReview invoices and expense transactions for accuracyAssist with cash management and payment processingProject SupportAssist with audits and documentation requestsSupport system conversions, process improvements, or cleanup projectsParticipate in ad hoc accounting and finance initiatives RequiredBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field2+ years of accounting experienceStrong Microsoft Excel skillsKnowledge of GAAP and standard accounting practicesAbility to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environmentPreferredExperience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Sage, Oracle, or SAPMonth-end close experienceFinancial reporting and account reconciliation experiencePrior experience in a contract or project-based accounting roleThe successful candidate will be:Detail-oriented and highly organizedComfortable analyzing financial dataAble to work independently with minimal supervisionAdaptable to changing priorities and business needsA strong communicator who collaborates effectively across departments Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
