Staff Accountant

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a financial services team in northern MA. This position is ideal for an accounting specialist who enjoys balancing tax work, client bookkeeping, and financial reporting responsibilities in a client-focused environment. The role offers the opportunity to support a range of accounting functions while building strong relationships and delivering dependable, accurate service. Responsibilities:• Prepare and review tax filings for individuals, businesses, and trusts with careful attention to accuracy and deadlines.• Maintain client financial records by handling bookkeeping tasks, reconciling accounts, and keeping general ledger activity up to date.• Contribute to monthly and annual closing activities by posting journal entries and assisting with the preparation of financial statements.• Provide support for payroll processing and sales tax reporting requirements as client needs arise.• Serve as a responsive point of contact for clients, offering clear guidance on accounting and tax matters.• Manage assigned engagements independently while prioritizing workload based on timing, complexity, and experience level.• Uphold strong quality standards by ensuring work is compliant, organized, and completed with a high level of precision. • At least 1 year of hands-on experience in tax preparation and bookkeeping. • Working knowledge of core accounting practices, including journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance. • Familiarity with preparing individual and trust tax returns, along with business-related tax work. • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments and meet established deadlines. • High attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, reliable work. • Effective communication skills and confidence in client-facing interactions. • A positive, motivated approach with interest in learning and taking on greater responsibility over time.
