Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting and tax activities for a long-term contract opportunity in Angola, New York. This position will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing tax-related documentation, and supporting daily accounting operations. The ideal candidate brings strong experience across general ledger work, journal entry preparation, and corporate and sales tax processes. Responsibilities: • Prepare and post journal entries to ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and on schedule. • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, investigating discrepancies and resolving issues in a timely manner. • Assist with the preparation and review of corporate tax filings and supporting documentation. • Manage sales tax reporting activities, including data gathering, calculation support, and filing coordination. • Support period-end close activities by organizing financial information and helping ensure reporting deadlines are met. • Review accounting records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal standards and applicable regulations. • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide accounting support, tax information, and financial documentation as needed. • Experience working in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role. • Working knowledge of corporate tax and sales tax processes. • Proficiency in preparing journal entries and maintaining general ledger accuracy. • Ability to support corporate tax return preparation with attention to detail. • Strong analytical and reconciliation skills with a high degree of accuracy. • Effective organizational and time-management skills in a deadline-driven environment. • Proficiency with standard accounting systems and spreadsheet tools.
