Responsibilities
- Manage assigned activities related to the monthly close process and help ensure financial records are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger while maintaining proper supporting documentation.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, bank statements, accounts payable activity, and procure-to-pay transactions to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Codify and review Pex card transactions to ensure expenses are recorded correctly and aligned with accounting policies.
- Record cash receipts and verify entries for completeness, accuracy, and proper account classification.
- Use Excel tools such as pivot tables and VLOOKUP to organize data, analyze account activity, and support reconciliations.
- Maintain orderly financial files and perform data entry tasks that support daily accounting operations and audit readiness.
- Assist with bank and general ledger reconciliations while helping preserve the accuracy of nonprofit fund accounting records.
Requirements
- 3+ years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or closely related role.
- Hands-on experience with month-end close activities, including preparing month-end journal entries.
- Strong background in general ledger accounting and balance sheet account reconciliation.
- Experience completing bank reconciliations and reviewing accounts payable or procure-to-pay activity.
- Working knowledge of fund accounting, ideally within a nonprofit environment.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to use pivot tables and VLOOKUP effectively.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage data entry, documentation, and financial records accurately.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field. A CPA certification is preferred but not required.
