Staff Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support key accounting operations for a long-term contract opportunity. This role is ideal for someone who can manage day-to-day financial activities while maintaining accuracy across reporting, tax support, and transaction processing. The position offers the chance to contribute across multiple accounting functions, including ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and payables and receivables administration.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries to keep financial records accurate and up to date.
• Maintain the general ledger and assist with account reconciliations and month-end close activities.
• Process accounts payable transactions, review supporting documentation, and help ensure timely vendor payments.
• Support accounts receivable functions by tracking incoming payments and following up on outstanding balances.
• Assist with corporate tax activities, including gathering information needed for filings and related compliance work.
• Contribute to sales tax reporting by reviewing transaction data and helping prepare required documentation.
• Help organize financial records and schedules used in the preparation of corporate tax returns.
• Review accounting data for completeness and resolve discrepancies through careful analysis and communication with internal stakeholders.

Requirements

• Experience working in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting position.
• Practical knowledge of general ledger accounting and journal entry preparation.
• Background supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Familiarity with corporate tax and sales tax responsibilities.
• Experience assisting with corporate tax return preparation or related documentation.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct financial discrepancies.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a long-term contract assignment.
