About the role
As Staff Accountant, you own the discipline that keeps the general ledger clean, catches variances before they become questions, and delivers trusted numbers for decision-makers.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments; assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, investigate variances before they become surprises, and maintain supporting schedules for financial statements and audit documentation.
- Apply customer payments accurately, monitor aging, work past-due balances and payment discrepancies, and process adjustments, credits, and write-offs.
- Produce aging summaries, collections updates, cash receipt activity, and management reports that inform budgeting, forecasting, and variance discussions.
- Maintain desk procedures, documentation, and reconciliation templates; improve them when data indicates a process gap.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Two or more years of accounting experience covering general ledger, reconciliations, and accounts receivable.
- Working knowledge of GAAP, accrual accounting, the monthly close cycle, and basic revenue recognition.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills—pivot tables, lookup functions, conditional formulas—and comfort working inside large transaction data sets.
- Hands-on experience with an accounting or ERP platform; ability to run, modify, and interpret standard financial reports.
- Sound judgment with confidential financial information and clear, direct communication across departments.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Ordinary ambulatory skills to move around the office and visit other locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate light to medium weights (10–50 pounds).
- Good hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and visual acuity for keyboard work and reading technical documentation.
- Frequent sitting, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and listening.
