Staff Accountant

About the role

The Staff Accountant reports to the Manager of Corporate Accounting and is responsible for various financial tasks including journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit support.

Responsibilities

• Support the monthly close process by preparing and posting journal entries, completing account reconciliations, and performing P&L trend analyses across assigned products.
• Research and analyze variances between actual financial results and forecasts, identifying key drivers and trends.
• Coverage of monthly bordereaux reports and settlement statements with external partners and brokers.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with financial reporting and audit requirements.
• Identify and recommend enhancements to accounting systems, processes, and controls to improve operational efficiency and accuracy.
• Collaborate cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve system and process challenges.
• Aid with special projects, ad hoc analyses, and other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent
• 1-2+ years’ experience in the insurance industry preferred
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office - Excel (Pivot Tables, Lookups, Formulas), Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail
• Ability to organize, prioritize, multi-task and be a self-starter in a fast-paced environment with demanding internal and external deadlines
• Work on-site 3x/week

Pay

$55,000-$80,000 + Bonus Potential & Participation in our Competitive Long-Term Incentive (LTI) Program.
