About the role
A staff accountant position is available part-time at Hilton New Orleans Airport. The role assists the Accounting Manager in supervising the hotel's finance office, focusing on computerized accounting systems, accounts receivable, month-end closing reports, and general ledger reconciliation.
Responsibilities
- Reconcile the airline master account with the airline manifest daily, ensuring accuracy and billing airline invoices by the second week of the following month.
- Audit group master accounts to verify they meet the payment terms specified in the group agreements.
- Bill all group master receivables within 3 days of the group events concluding.
- Post all payments received by the hotel on the same business day.
- Post tax exemptions to guest folios as needed and audit the accuracy of tax exemption forms.
- Respond and resolve guest and client requests for folios, adjustments, credit card authorizations, and other inquiries.
- Assist with month-end closing process as directed.
- Assist with monthly house bank audits, payroll audits, and other duties as assigned.
Supportive Functions
- Train individuals in PEP, Excel and MS Word.
- Handle special project assignments as requested by Accounting Manager or General Manager.
Specific Job Knowledge, Skill and Ability
- Access and accurately input information into a computer using various computer software programs (Excel and Word).
- Maintain an open line of communication between guests, team members, and management.
- General knowledge of accounting operations, aptitude for figures.
- Office machines: operate calculator/10-key by touch, copier, fax, telephone.
- Effectively deal with guest and team members concerns in a friendly and positive manner, demonstrating empathy with the customer and providing positive and proactive solutions.
- Listen effectively and speak/write English clearly.
- Learn and perform all essential job functions accurately and safely with minimal direct supervision, within the initial training period after starting work.
Education and Experience
- A high school graduate or equivalent required.
- 1 - 2 years of Finance and Accounts Receivable experience preferred.
- Prior hospitality experience also preferred.
