Staff Accountant

About the role

MEM Insurance is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their Finance team. The ideal candidate will enjoy balancing day-to-day accounting responsibilities with process improvement and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Assist with the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Analyze financial data and identify variances, trends, and discrepancies.
• Support the preparation of financial statements and internal reports for leadership.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure proper documentation and compliance with accounting policies.
• Audit support by providing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
• Maintain general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
• Support special projects and initiatives within the Finance department as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• 1–3 years of accounting or finance experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience working with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
