Responsibilities
- Manage general ledger and month-end/year-end close processes, including preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and financial statement preparation and analysis
- Maintain records retention, protection, and disposal
- Develop and maintain company accounting procedures and ensure compliance
- Monitor cash flow for operations
- Assist with audits
- Keep managers informed of financial status and reporting
- Improve efficiency through procedural enhancements
Accountabilities: Timely financial reporting and accuracy in journal entries and reporting.
This position reports to the Corporate Controller and works closely with the corporate finance team based in Austin, TX.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting and finance experience
- Deep understanding of financial close process, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliation schedules, and financial statement packages
- Experience in financial operations including A/R, A/P, treasury, payroll, and state and local tax compliance
- Advanced Excel skills and ability to quickly learn and adopt new software tools
- Experience with QuickBooks, SAGE Intacct, or other similar ERP systems
- Background in a skilled trades environment (construction, electrical, HVAC, or plumbing) preferred
- CPA or desire to pursue CPA designation is a plus

- Language Skills: Ability to read, understand, and apply written instructions, emails, and business correspondence. Strong written communication skills for drafting professional emails, reports, and internal documents. Ability to present information clearly in one-on-one and small group settings.
- Mathematical Skills: Proficiency in basic arithmetic, percentages, ratios, and financial calculations. Familiarity with spreadsheets and data entry.
- Reasoning Ability: Strong problem-solving skills, ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities. Attention to detail and sound judgment, especially with confidential information.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to sit, use hands for typing and other office tasks, and communicate clearly
- Occasionally stand, walk, or lift office materials weighing up to 25 pounds
- Close vision for computer work and ability to adjust focus as needed
