Responsibilities
- Partner with cross-functional departments to ensure accurate accounting for purchases, expenses, and month-end accruals.
- Prepare and analyze account reconciliations as part of the monthly financial close process.
- Manage the monthly accrual process by working closely with department leaders and budget owners.
- Interact with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve accounting-related questions and discrepancies.
- Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with GAAP.
- Compile financial reports and supporting schedules for management.
- Review contracts, vendor agreements, and other financial documents for accounting implications.
- Absorb and document accounting policies and assist with maintaining internal controls.
- Support SOX compliance activities, external financial statement audits, and tax audits as needed.
- Participate in accounting system implementations, upgrades, and user acceptance testing.
- Assist with special projects, financial analyses, and ad hoc reporting as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- One or more years of accounting experience, preferably in biotechnology, life sciences, healthcare, or a public accounting environment.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative, and collaborative environment while remaining flexible and detail-oriented.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP/accounting systems (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or similar) is preferred.
