Staff Accountant

Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and 1099 preparation.
- Oversee construction accounting functions, including job costing, project cost tracking, and progress reporting.
- Prepare and review monthly construction draws (G702/G703) and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate subcontractor payments, joint checks, and lien waivers, ensuring proper approvals and compliance.
- Assist with project budgets, cost estimates, and cash flow projections; provide financial reporting and analysis to leadership.
- Ensure accurate coding and recording of project costs across systems (Yardi, Intacct, Procore).
- Support accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and vendor management.
- Collaborate with project managers and development teams; participate in project meetings and provide financial insights.
- Work with auditors, lenders, and insurance providers to supply required documentation.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and identify process improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Excel; understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Soft Skills: Analytical mindset, high attention to detail, strong organizational skills, effective communication skills, and a collaborative team-oriented approach.
- Compliance & Systems: Experience within accounting systems and troubleshooting accounting platform issues.
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting. CPA, CMA, or progress toward certification preferred. Minimum of 0–2 years of accounting experience. Proficiency in Yardi Voyager is preferred.
Work Environment
This is a full-time, in-office position based on the 13th floor of our downtown Salt Lake City headquarters, with core hours Monday through Friday. Our office at Second + State offers expansive views of the city and surrounding mountains, access to a private balcony, and close proximity to a wide range of restaurants, cafés, and amenities within walking distance. The building also provides an on-site fitness facility and covered, year-round parking. Daily office essentials like coffee, snacks, and beverages are available to support a comfortable and engaging workday.
