About the Role
The Staff Accountant prepares monthly financial statements and statistical data for assigned entities within Life Care Home Health and Hospice.
Responsibilities
- Prepares monthly financial statements including all necessary accruals, estimates, and supporting schedules for assigned entities.
- Accumulates and prepares statistical data to allow for accurate analysis of financial data, including trending analysis, budgetary comparisons, and identification of unjustified variations.
- Prepares and reviews journal entries, including accruals with supporting documentation.
- Prepares balance sheet reconciliations.
- Handles Accounts Payable entry and payment processing.
- Reviews Payroll and related entries.
- Prepares work papers relating to external audits and tax returns.
- Provides financial support and assistance to administrators.
- Completes special projects as requested.
Requirements
- One year of accounting experience (health care experience preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (required).
- Current driver’s license in good standing, reliable transportation, and auto liability insurance.
Skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and leadership.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and comprehending English.
- Knowledge of office machines, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong analytical skills to collect, analyze, and interpret numerical and written data.
- Ability to work under stress and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Physical Requirements
- Sedentary work: exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or negligible force frequently.
- May involve sitting most of the time, with occasional walking or standing for brief periods.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Constant adequate range of motion and mobility required.
- Regular near acuity with clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.
- Regular ability to talk, hear, and express ideas clearly.
- Constant ability to read, record, or type data quickly and accurately.
Environmental/Working Conditions
- Working long hours between breaks or meals may be required.
- Must be willing to travel overnight to various locations as needed.
- Ability to work under stress in an appropriate manner.
- May be exposed to varying noise intensities (high, medium, or low).
- Constant contact with co-workers and guests required.
- Job tasks involve no greater exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues than would be encountered by a visitor.
