Staff Accountant

Lalor Family Dental is a growing, multi-office dental practice in the Greater Binghamton area bringing over 60 years of experience in the dental field. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our finance team full-time. This position offers exposure to a wide range of accounting responsibilities, giving you the foundation and visibility needed to progress into a future Accounting Lead role. Key Responsibilities Performing month-end and year-end closing procedures entering financial data and transactions into the general ledgers of multiple entities that make up the Lalor Family of companiesProviding final review and approval of company credit card charges ensuring proper documentation and coding to the general ledger of multiple entitiesReviewing financial documents for accuracy and reconciling accountsReconciling inter-company liabilitiesMaintaining fixed asset records and recording monthly depreciation and amortizationCompiling multiple consolidating financial statementsAnalyzing financial results, investigating budget variances, material changes, discrepancies and unusual activity Assisting in preparing annual budgetsAssisting in maintaining and updating financial forecasts and cash flow projections Collaborating with other departments to complete accurate records and provide accounting supportAssisting in the preparing of annual tax documents and supporting schedules Cross training in bookkeeping functions to provide support and coverage as neededSupporting the Controller and other financial professionals in their duties as needed Skills Strong understanding of general accounting principles for various types of entitiesStrong attention to detail and commitment to accuracyStrong analytical skillsAbility to manage confidential financial data with strict adherence to compliance standards.Strong organizational and time-management skillsAbility to manage recurring deadlines and prioritize multiple responsiblitiesEffective problem-solving skills to identify and correct financial discrepanciesWritten and verbal communication skills to share accounting information when neededAbility to work on a team and independentlyProficient with Quickbooks, Microsoft Excel and most Microsoft products Education Minimum bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA or equivalent preferred Experience 2 or more years of general ledger accountingPayroll experience a plus Annual Salary: $50,000 - $70,000 -- depending on experience and education Lalor Family Dental is an equal opportunity employer.
