Key Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day general ledger accounting activities including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Accounts Receivable: Invoicing, product master file maintenance, and collections.
- Aid in cost accounting and manufacturing finance, including inventory valuation, standard costing, production cost tracking and reporting.
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Prepare financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliations as needed.
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules, ensuring accurate tracking of assets.
- Aid in audit preparation, compliance reporting.
- Jump in where needed – Teamwork, flexibility, and ownership.
- Collaborate with operation teams at the grow facility to understand cost drivers, improve margins, and set up accounting processes to streamline reporting.
- Work with operation department managers to ensure proper documentation to support tax strategy and audit readiness.
- Collaborate with the controller to support the financial operations while collaborating closely through regular check-ins, clear workflows, and strong communication.
- Work with the AP coordinator to ensure invoices are coded and entered properly in QBO. Focus on invoice details to maximize future reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing facility.
- Direct experience with cost accounting and inventory accounting.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting best practices.
- Strong experience with reconciliations, financial statements preparation, and month-end/year-end close processes.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks Online) and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, reporting).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. High level of accuracy, accountability, and ownership.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred
- Familiarity with cannabis-specific financial and regulatory requirements including 280E regulations.
- Experience in budgeting and forecasting in a growing business.
