Staff Accountant

Responsibilities

• Perform the daily cash flow
• Process Bank Reconciliation
• Prepares quarterly calculation of Allocation Percentages
• Performs month-end and year-end close processes such as: Preparation of Spreads and allocations, Interdepartmental transfers, in-kind donations etc
• Responsible for specific accruals and account reconciliations (Prepaid, prepaid postage, security deposits, Telecommunication bill, Construction in Progress, Gift Cards, Petty cash accounts, some employee benefits etc.)
• Assists with Credit Card management and accrual of expenses
• Prepares and files all quarterly and annual regulatory reports for sales and use tax
• Ensures the integrity of key processes by understanding systems, flow of transactions, internal controls, and recommending efficiency and effectiveness improvements
• Analyze financial data and investigate variances and provide explanations
• Affords assistance with internal and external audits by providing required documentation and analysis
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to support business operations

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant accounting experience

About the Role

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting and financial reporting functions of the organization. This role ensures accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, assists with month-end and year-end close processes, and maintains compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
